8 Questions game!

I was tagged by @spinndiva from Rambling Designs to write a bit on myself!

1- What's your staple meal (ie. what meal do you cook most oftern when you can't be bothered to be adventurous) ?

Usually, I cook sausage, salad and some semolina. Takes 5 minutes and it's delicious.

2- What do you want to be when you grow up?

Good question! When I was younger, I wanted to be a) a teacher b) a scientist or c) a professional piano player. I still want to become a teacher!

3- What book are you reading at the moment (if any)

Black Cross by Greg Iles. The story takes place in the WWII in England. I just began so... that's it for now! But it is already pretty good.

4- How do you relax?

KNITTING!!!!!

5- What color are the interior walls of your home?

Kitchen and living room : beige, brown and green
Bedroom and office: Orange and beige

6- What is your guiltiest pleasure?

Hahaha! Watching America's Next Top Model!

7- What time is bedtime and getting up time?

Sleep time: around 10h30 pm
Wake up: work day = 5h45 am and off day = 9h30 am!

8- How long do you spend reading blogs (per day or per week)?

Oh gosh. I use to spend A LOT of time on internet, browsing and surfing on knitting blogs and Ravelry. And then, I decided that my laptop had to stay in the office. No more tv+laptop. Now I spend maybe 1h on internet per day...

So! that was fun! I hope you learned something from me! And now, my turn to tag people!!! I would love to learn something about :

And now, I'm off to prepare an Etsy order and to knit! Because, hopefully, my next post will be about my latest knitting, my Faverolle! Stay tuned!

Knitting benefits

These past days, I felt like crap. Yes! It's strange for me who is always bubbly, happy and in top shape! But everything went just ... wrong! Yesterday, I forgot my keys and my access pass home so I couldn't lock my bike at work, and couldn't enter my job's building! And I realized, right at my front door, that I couldn't go home either... because my keys were inside the appartment! I had to go at my boyfriend's job to take his keys...
And then a really unscrupulous person fraud my cellphone account. Yes! I was receiving Text messages spam and unwanted calls! I had to change my cellphone number!
And then at work, my boss and I missplaced a super important shipping paper. We couldn't find it and had to make another (and get all the information back)...

Yes, I know it sounds like small things, but I think it's THAT time of the month because to me, it looks like a mountain!

But, I decided to do something to cheer me up : knitting!

Ah, knitting, dear to my heart. Everytime I feel blue or bad, I knit. Even if it asks me a little kick in the butt to start (when I'm really feeling bad), I am still amazed by the wonders of knitting.

Do you know that knitting helps you lose weight? Yes! According to the website psychology101, the first tip to lose weight is by taking up knitting! It keeps your mind occupied, and helps you lose weight without exercising.

And I do have a personal story that supports this argument. My mother, which I love and is reading this (she read every of my post. I love you mom!), once told me that knitting saved her from depression.
My mom suffers from diabetes and have a hard time controlling it. Not that she isn't carefull! The disease is just very strong and very uncontrollable. And to keeps her from eating sweets or chocolate or things that could make her go in hyperglycemia, well she knits! Lately, she does Norvegian lace and Cross Stitching, but knitting was the craft that saved her originally.

So, to you all who want to lose weight, or are bored and doesn't know what to do, take up knitting! It's not only a good wait to keep your hands busy, to keep you away from the fridge and is self rewarding!

The diet is over

After a visit to a local Alpaca farm this winter, and after severely busting my budget, I decided to go on a yarn diet. I stop buying new yarn (with success!) until last week's post. I bought some gorgeous laceweight skeins of Malabrigo and Alpaca.

And that was it. The diet was over. All my willpower vanished in a second! All I could think about was yarn yarn yarn! It's like the yarnie demon that I struggled to hide inside me found an exit and is now free!

And you know what? I LOVE IT! That is why I broke the now obsolete and, with some hindsight, ridiculous rule of not buying new yarn! LYS, be aware... the yarnie demon is awake and he's hungry!

Ah, Malabrigo. I haven't even started something with the laceweight skein I bought last week, and already I bought another skein, but this time sockweight. I'm planning on selfishly make myself a shawl with it... I have some ideas, but do some of you have suggestions?

I also bought a skein of Schachenmayr Regia 4-färbig sock weight yarn. Slightly variagated, the grey tones will make a perfect pair of socks for my mother-in-law, who lives in France. She always knits thing for me (like, SWEATERS, how thoughtful is that!!!), and everytime she sends goodies to my boyfriend (who's also French... rhetoric precision), she always includes a little gift for me. I think the best way to thank her is by knitting her gorgeous, complicated and difficult stuff! I mean, as a knitter, she will totally understand how much time and efforts I put in her garment!

And you, how do you thank the ones you love? Do you knit things for them?
