FO : Flowing Lines

Almost a year almost casting on, I finally get to wear it. The perfect fall sweater.

Oh, and let's just say that it's the perfect Rhinebeck sweater... Because I'm going to be there! I'm so excited! I really hope I can meet some of you!

FO : Tobias II

No, I do not have the time to knit that fast... This FO was knitted before little M. arrived. I hope you can understand that there weren't occasions to take pictures!

This hat is another take at my pattern, Tobias. I knitted the brim longer to really cover the ears, and the bodylonger to give it a slouchier feel.

I had some leftover Malabrigo Worsted in Mineral Red from my Oscar cardigan, and a skein of Malabrigo Worsted again in Azul Profundo (if I remember correctly). I knew these two colors would look great together. I'm so happy with the result!

I tried to post last week but a nasty, nasty cold took over our household (thanks to all your nice comments on Twitter!). Glad to feel better and to be able show you some of my baby knits!

I almost forgot to tell you that you can now follow me in Instagram. Lots of knitting and cats on the menu!

Hello... I'm back?

Almost a year and a half since my last post. No notes, no explanations, I just kinda... vanished from the online knitting world. 

I just couldn't post or knit anymore. It was just getting out of hand, taking too much place in my life, and my coward solution was to just let it go, to get rid of it all at once. I needed to cut the cord, get away from it. I stopped knitting for several months after that. A feeling of shame? Yes, maybe. It took me 18 months to really want to come back, to reopen this page. To my surprise, it was just as I left it, nothing had change.

I have changed. I became more mature, more calm. I now have a new approche to knitting. It was such a big and overpowering part of my life that I had to really start over to enjoy it again, take pleasure in picking up my needles and casting on. It doesn't stress me anymore. I learned to say "no".

Okay, enough with the explanations. I'm back, and I want to be back, so why dwell and try to justify it? I just missed this blog so much in the last month that I feel at peace now. So, let's look at what happened in the last year and a half.

I got the dream job in a publishing house. Litterature, poetry, intellectual and creative publications. I love my job, my coworkers. My loving boyfriend and I moved in an amazing appartment in a dead end, street level, with a (relatively) big private yard in the back. We've been here for a little over than a year now and we love it. 

In fact, we love it enough to stay here and start... a family. Yes, a family. Here I am, with my 7 months pregnant belly. Our little boy is due on April 12th. We are absolutely thrilled!

Which leads me to what I knitted during my retreat for the online world. You can see me sporting my Elemental Boatneck Sweater, by Hannah Fettig, knitted in Knit Picks Comfy DK. It was knitted over the summer 2013 and got wore a lot. You can tell by the cat hair. 

I've knitted other things, not a lot. I knitted when I wanted to, no pressure. Those projects are for other blog posts. And I played piano (a long love story with playing piano that I don't think I've ever talked about...), started watercolor... I really enjoyed myself.

I plan on blogging more, every week, or as the projects are finished and as I have things to post. I already have ideas, which is a really nice feeling to have. See ya :)

Aurore, you are dear to my heart. I deeply, deeply love this cowl and I am really, really excited to launch this pattern! Feminine, delicate, soft, light... like a knitted necklace! Worked in the round in a delicate cable-like pattern, Aurore is the perfect design to show off your fingering weight luxury yarn. I use some Miss Babs Yummy sock yarn, but I could see some Malabrigo sock, MadelineTosh, Indigo Moon yarns, Skein yarns and many more... One most precious, gorgeous skein of fingering weight yarn, some US 4/ 3.5mm needles and a lovely stitch marker, and that's it! You have a lovely Aurore cowl. I'm planning on knitting another one myself...

Damn I love those socks. My first two at a time toe-up socks. My first *real* knit with my own handspun. I love them. I couldn't be happier with the yarn itself; here and there there are small boops of yarn, some fuzzy clogs. But maybe two or three. That's it. Everything is regular, even, smooth...

It makes me less nervous about my Spin Me a Sweater challenge. If I'm able to spin a respectable sock yarn, why not a sweater yarn?

What a great knit. A real stunner. And I finally have mine!

The cable patterns were intuitive, the minimal shaping is simple yet effective and the result is just to die for. Before blocking it was way too tight, but the wet block gave it an amazing fit. I couldn’t be happier!

I really liked to work with the Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky, but if I was to knit it again, I would choose a fluffier, drapier yarn. I liked it, didn’t love it. Nevertheless the stitch definition is amazing… it depends on what you want as a result!

Happy New Year! ... late ...

Here is the first FO of this new year 2012, Nazaire. (Raveled here!)

Nazaire is a simple, long beanie (or tube hat) knitted with my very own Handspun (!!!) and some Cascade Yarn Eco + in Straw colorwar left over. So easy it took only one day to knit!

The beanie is easily knittable and I am certain that a similar pattern can be found on Ravelry. But, if ever you guys want a pattern, let me know!

Hi guys! I casted on these socks to have something small and easy to carry on my weekend to Rhinebeck. I've been wearing those socks for a week now, and I can hardly take them off. They are cozy, comfortable, and oh so pretty! I absolutely love them! The pattern features both charts for a mirror effect on the foot, a french heel and an anatomical toe. Plus, knitted with DK yarn and 3 mm needles, these pretty ones go fast fast fast!

FO: Aubépine

Oh, how I love wearable knits! Aubépine is an elegant hip-length top featuring a V-neck, both in front and back, dolman short sleeves, and a delicate double stitch and cable stitch pattern. The garment consists in 2 identical panels sewn together and a picked-up neck band. Plus, it is easy to wear over a pair of jeans, a skirt or even leggings, with a belt to show that waist of yours! Knitted with Skein's Merino/Silk Sport yarn in Raku, this top is flowy and light but still keeps you warm.

This yarn, my friend, this yarn... first, the color is absolutely gorgeous. I mean, who would expect a variagated yarn to behave like that with a cable pattern? And the base (50% Merino, 50% Silk) takes blocking wonderfully!

The pattern is not yet written, but I gathered my notes and am working on it...

Hi guys! Finally, this cardigan is done! It sat in the knitting basket for a long time, went to Europe, was worked on 2 rows at a time... but after much efforts and numerous hiatuses, I finally can wear my Wispy cardigan!

I only have good words about this cardigan. The construction in ingenious and clever, the fit is amazing and the cardigan is just so easy to make! Don't let the lace weight yarn scare you: with US #6, it goes way faster than you think! And the yarn... a dream to knit with and so many colored possibilities! Thank you Hannah for this wonderful design!
