First things first, we have wonderful new for Falling Stitches' Quebec readers! This saturday (june 9th), Ariane will be at Mont Tricot yarn shop in Sutton, Quebec. She wants to meet you guys! So if you want to talk knitting or just have a conversation, come see us! She'll be at the shop from noon to 5pm. Please visit Mont Tricot's website for the store's location and how to get there. Oh guys, I missed you so much! I've been away from my blog for such a long time. I missed blogging, writting and reading all your wonderful comments. But guess what? With the help of my lovely best friend Laurie (you met her in the last post), I can now blog and knit more! She is a precious helper.

Random: Latest news and the newest addition to the Falling Stitches' team!

Hi guys! Today's blogpost is full of the latest news, so get ready!


The first big new is that ... well ... I'm not Ariane! My name's Laurie and I'm excited to announce that I'm the newest addition to the Falling Stitches' team! I'm truly honored to be part of this project and eager to know all of you! 


What's the story you ask? Well ... the first thing you should know is that Ariane and I are best friends. We have been for a few years now. During those years, I began to help with Falling Stitches. Because I'm into photography, I was able to shoot almost every new pattern she has done over the last two years. With time, I had the chance to help more and more in other areas of Falling Stitches. 

Now, because of Ariane's hard work and amazing creativity, Falling Stitches is doing pretty well. But with knitting picking up and a new full time job in the publishing industry, things are getting a little crazy. So she called in more help and I jumped at the occasion! Don't worry though, Ariane's not going anywhere.

Many great things has happened since the last post. The first one is undoubtedly that Ariane received an invitation from Boucherville's Festival Créatif des Arts du Fil, Quebec's new handmade textile festival, to be their first artist to be featured in their newsletter! I encourage all of you to go check out the video interview they made with Ariane and I a few weeks ago (see the interview here!). It was so much fun! 

Moreover, the beautiful blog Spin Artiste interviewed Ariane this month as their «featured artist» on her creative process and her new found love for her drop spindle (read the interview here). She was also interviewed by Lisa of the Quebec knitting blog Petite Tuques when she visited Mont Tricot a few weeks ago (read it here!). 

Her pattern also received attention this month. The knitting blog Subway Knits talked about Tobias, one of Ariane's hat pattern, in their latest podcast (listen to the podcast here!). I just love the details of this hat. Don't you?

Bonjour à tous! Le billet d'aujourd'hui est rempli de nouvelles fraîches!

Premièrement, je ne suis pas Ariane! Mon nom est Laurie et je suis très heureuse d'annoncer que je serai la nouvelle partenaire d'Ariane dans l'aventure qu'est Falling Stitches! Je suis sincèrement honorée de faire partie de ce projet et je suis impatiente d'apprendre à vous connaître! 

Qu'est-ce qui m'a amené sur ces rivages me demanderez-vous? En fait, la première chose que vous devez savoir est qu'Ariane et moi sommes meilleures amies depuis quelques années déjà et qu'au cours de ces années, j'ai commencé à l'aider avec Falling Stitches. Je me suis d'abord proposée pour l'aider avec ce que je connaissais le mieux, la photographie! Les photos des patrons que vous voyez sur ce blogue sont donc majoritairement prises par moi. Avec le temps, j'ai eu le privilège de m'impliquer de plus en plus dans Falling Stitches. 

Maintenant, à cause du travail acharné et de l'incroyable talent créatif d'Ariane, les choses vont plutôt bien pour Falling Stitches. Cependant, avec le tricot et un nouveau travail à temps plein dans le domaine de la publication, l'horaire de ma chère amie devient de plus en plus chargé. Dès qu'elle a fait mention qu'elle aurait besoin d'aide, je ne me fis pas prier. J'ai sauté sur l'occasion! Je ferai donc partie du paysage, mais ne vous en faites pas, Ariane ne va nulle part! 

Ce mois-ci fut chargé, mais plein de belles expériences! La première est sans doute l'invitation du Festival Créatif des Arts du Fil de Boucherville à être la première artiste à être mis de l'avant dans la section «portrait» de leur site internet. Je vous encourage tous et toutes à aller visionner l'entrevue vidéo qu'ils ont réalisée avec Ariane et moi il y a quelques semaines (Voir la vidéo de l'entrevue ici). Quel plaisir!

Ariane a aussi été interviewée dans le charmant blogue Spin Artiste comme «featured artist» où elle fait part de son processus créatif et de son nouvel amour: filer à la main avec son fuseau (lisez l'entrevue ici!). De passage à Mont Tricot un peu plus tôt dans le mois, Ariane a aussi été interviewée par Lisa du blogue québécois Petite Tuques (lisez le tout ici!). 

En plus, le patron de tuque Tobias a aussi reçu de l'attention. Il a été mentionné dans le podcast du blogue Subway knits (écoutez le podcast ici!). J'adore le motif de cette tuque/béret. Pas vous?

C'est tout pour maintenant, mais ne passez pas trop longtemps sans venir nous visiter puisque les prochaines semaines seront remplies de billet sur ce blogue! Random : Bilingual/Bilingue! and others/et autres...

Hi guys! I am really happy to tell you that this blog will now be bilingual, in both French and English! My readership is diversified: I have readers from the States, England, Australia, but also from France and Québec. After getting several comments about having the blog in French, I decided to give it a try. So this is for you, my fellow francophones!

Bonjour à tous! Je suis très contente de vous annoncer que ce blogue sera  maintenant bilingue, en français et en anglais! Mon lectorat est diversifié : il y a des lecteurs des États-Unis, d'Angleterre, d'Australie, mais aussi de France et du Québec. Après avoir reçu plusieurs commentaires concernant la langue de ce blogue, j'ai décidé de me lancer. Et ce, seulement pour vous, mes francophones!

Deuxièment, voici ce qui s'est passé cette semaine...

Last Sunday, I went to see a brand new LYS that opened in the village next to my parents', Mont Tricot in Sutton. I had a wonderful chat with the lovely owner Lucinda. We spoke via Ravelry a couple of days before and it was amazing to meet each other in person. 

Dimanche dernier, je suis allée visiter une toute nouvelle boutique de laine, Mont Tricot, à Sutton, un village voisin de celui de mes parents. J'ai eu une merveilleuse conversation avec la propriétaire, Lucinda. Nous nous étions déjà parlé sur Ravelry et ce fût très agréable de se rencontrer.

I can now officially tell you that there is a great collaboration between Mont Tricot, Indigo Moon yarns (exclusively at Mont Tricot) and me! Isn't great?!  So get ready for some new patterns coming up soon!

Je peux maintenant vous faire l'annonce officiel d'une collaboration entre Mont Tricot, distributeur officiel des laines Indigo Moon,  et moi! C'est génial non?! Vous allez voir, plusieurs nouveaux modèles sont déjà en préparation!

Something else happened this week. Another great, great thing. Maybe you guys from Québec haven't heard of it yet, but in March 2013, there will be the first edition of the Festival des Arts Créatif du Fil (The Creative Thread Arts Festival?) in Boucherville. I received an email from the Director, asking me to be the subject of their very first article! I'll keep you posted!!

Un autre évènement s'est produit cette semaine. Un évèmenent vraiment excitant. Peut-être que vous, québécois(es), n'en n'avez pas encore entendu parler, mais au mois de mars 2013 se tiendra la première édition du Festival des Arts Créatif du fil à Boucherville. Je reçu un courriel du directeur général me demandant si je voulais être le sujet de leur premier publi-reportage! Ne vous en faites pas, je vous tiendrai au courant de sa publication!

1  skein  of  Malabrigo  Yarn  Me-rino Worsted (210 yards/192 meters,  100  grams/3.53  oz)  or  any heavy  worsted  weight/aran weight yarn. 

Needles 
One  US  8/5  mm  32"  or  longer circular  needle  OR  one  set  of  US 8/5  mm  double  pointed  needles or size needed to obtain gauge. 

Gauge 
27.5  sts  X  35  rows  =  4"/  10cm  in Wasp  Nest  st  in  the  rnd,  un-blocked;  17  sts  X  29  rows  =  4"/ 10cm  in  1x1  Ribbing  in  the  rnd, stretched,  with  recommended needles  or  size  needed  to  obtain gauge. 

Notions 
One  stitch  marker,  tapestry  needle, and scissors. 

I am really happy to show you my newest design, Tobias. Tobias is warm. The doubled hem is folded and the CO ed-ge is attached as you knit a Latvian braid. The Wasp Nest pattern is then worked. Due to its folded hem and the slip-ped stitches of the Wasp Nest pattern, Tobias is the perfect winter hat. It keeps your ears and head warm! With just the right amount of slouch, it can be worn as a slouch hat or pulled down as a slightly long beanie. I told you, the perfect winter hat! Work with only 1 skein of Malabrigo worsted, you will want to have one in each color!

Life has the remarquable ability to be itself: life. Life being life. But when it is being itself, it doesn't leave much space for anything else. Life.

But luckily, life is taking a short break. A short break, but long enough to let me tell you that I missed knitting and this blog so much. I have a lot of stuff to show you. Why not start with some yarn candy? Because when life is being life, yarn candy is the best treat ever.
